Gerald E. “Gerry” Marron, 55, of Tremont, Ill., formerly of Sioux City, passed away Thursday, June 14, 2012, at the Pekin Hospital.

A funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Blessed Sacrament Church in Morton, Ill., with the Rev. Mark De Sutter officiating. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Davis Mortuary in Tremont, with recitation of the rosary at 8 p.m. Burial will be in Mount Hope Cemetery in Tremont.

Gerry was born April 10, 1957, in Sioux City, to Eugene and Monica (Gormally) Marron. He married Kimberly Flanagan on Oct. 1, 1976.

He was a loving and devoted husband, father, and grandfather.

He was a successful salesman throughout his career.

Gerry was a member of Blessed Sacrament Church in Morton.

He was a member of the 1975 Iowa state championship football team, and a member of the University of South Dakota football team.

He was an avid football fan, especially of the Fighting Irish of Notre Dame, Tremont Turks, Heelan Crusaders, and the Minnesota Vikings. He took pride in a well-manicured yard with all the finishing touches. He thoroughly enjoyed making the holidays unforgettable with his “Gerry-style” touches. He was able to command a room with his big personality and he had the gift of making everyone laugh and smile. He was the family grill master. His favorite pastime was gathering his family together and putting on a large-scale spread.

Survivors include his parents of Sioux City; his wife; five sons, Christopher Marron of Tremont, Nicholas Marron of Fort Collins, Colo., Corey Marron, Benjamin Marron, and Joshua Marron, all of Tremont; three daughters, Amy Marron of Chicago, Stacy (Caleb) Post of Hudson, Ill. and Allison Marron of Tremont; three grandchildren; one brother, Mark Marron of Roseville, Calif.; one sister, Jean (Rick) Lindauer of Omaha, Neb.
