Mary Jane Goetsch, 89, of Sioux City passed away Sunday, Feb. 12, 2012, at a local care facility.

Services will be 1 p.m. Friday at Meyer Brothers Morningside Chapel, with the Rev. Lloyd Grant of Central Baptist Church officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. today, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m. and a prayer service at 7 p.m., at the funeral home. Condolences may be sent online to www.meyerbroschapels.com.

Mary Jane was born June 26, 1922, in Sioux City, the daughter of George and Hertha (Smith) Wider. She grew up in Sioux City and attended Sioux City schools.

She married Roland W. Goetsch on June 20, 1940, in South Sioux City. He died on March 31, 2009, in Sioux Falls, S.D., after 69 years of marriage. Mary and Roland were active in the Sioux Valley Kennel Club for many years. They owned Emar Kennels. Mary showed Puli dogs for many years. She also taught dog training for Plymouth County 4-H clubs for 10 years.

Her life was raising her daughters. She enjoyed traveling, fishing and camping. Mary and Roland wintered in south Texas for many years.

She is survived by three daughters, Barbara "Bobbie Jo" (Russ) Ryken of Sioux City, Harriet "Judy" (Don) Bartholomew of Aurelia, Iowa, and Linda (Rick) DeRemer of New Bern, N.C.; 13 caring grandchildren; 26 loving great-grandchildren; a great-great-granddaughter; and a son-in-law, Ron Walchek of Cibolo, Texas.

She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; and two daughters, Constance "Connie" Bahmer and Janey Walchek.

Pallbearers will be Randy and Rollie Bahmer, Steve Katsis, Brian Walchek, Chuck DeRemer, Lance Kruse, Dan Lewis, and Scott Beliveau. Honorary pallbearers will be Brandan and Christopher Bahmer and Damon Kruse.
