Jean Eberly, 94, of Lawton, formerly of Lake Helen, Fla., died July 8, 2012, at Char-Mac Assisted Living in Lawton.

Abiding by her request, no services will be held. The body has been cremated. Her ashes will be entombed in Florida.

Jean was born on Oct. 1, 1917, near Lawton, the daughter of George and Nancy (Bates) Davidson. Her family moved to Stanford, S.D., soon after her birth. She attended country school and completed her education in Pierre, S.D. She returned to Iowa with her family in 1935.

She met and married Clifford Eberly on Dec. 28, 1939, in Sioux City. They lived in Lawton. Cliff lost his life on March 31, 1945, in action near Sinder, Germany. Jean worked in government offices in Nebraska, Iowa and Wisconsin until her retirement in 1977. She moved to Florida and spent her retirement years in Florida doing volunteer work and making friends.

She is survived by a sister, Mary Hays of Lawton; and a brother, Norman Davidson and his wife, Joyce of Sioux City.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Georgina Grigg; and two brothers, Chauncey and Marshall Davidson.
