Helen (Marvin) Knolle, 98, of Lincoln, Neb., formerly of Sioux City, died Saturday, July 14, 2012.

Memorial services will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Saint Paul United Methodist Church in Lincoln, with the Rev. Steve Griffith officiating. Interment will be in Greenwood Memorial Cemetery, Greenwood, Neb. Arrangements are under the direction of Butherus, Maser and Love Funeral Home in Lincoln. Condolences may be left at www.bmlfh.com.

She was born on June 25, 1914, in Greenwood, Neb., the daughter of Lyman Coe Marvin and Elsie Kimberley Marvin. She attended the University of Nebraska and Morningside College in Sioux City. She taught in several Nebraska schools and also assisted in the Hinton (Iowa) School Library.

Helen married Lee M. Knolle in Greenwood in 1935. They lived in Greenwood, Plattsmouth, and Omaha before moving to Sioux City, where they raised their family. In Sioux City, Helen was active at First Methodist Church, Sioux Trails Girl Scout Council, and other community organizations. She was initiated into P.E.O. Chapter IL in 1941, where she served as president. Upon retirement, Helen and Lee wintered in Arizona.

Helen moved to Lincoln in 1993 and was a member of Saint Paul United Methodist Church and United Methodist Women. She transferred to P.E.O. Chapter FG, and at the time of her death, was a 71-year member. She volunteered at Ten Thousand Villages and was involved with the VanDorn Villa Library committee. She spent her final year with loving care at Grace Pointe Assisted Living.

She is survived by daughters, Mary Knolle Jensen (Louis) of Terre Haute, Ind., and Carol Knolle-Faulkner (Richard Faulkner) of Lincoln; and son, Neil Marvin Knolle of Herndon, Va. She was also proud of her seven grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Helen was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Harold and Neil Marvin; and her husband, Lee M. Knolle.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials to Saint Paul United Methodist Church, P.E.O. Chapter FG, or a charity of choice.
