Steven Paul McHargue, 47, of Plymouth, Minn., formerly of Sioux City, died at home on Thursday, July 12, 2012, after a brief illness.

Memorial service will be 1:30 p.m. Thursday at Woodridge Church, 1500 County Road 24, in Medina, Minn., with the Rev. Louie Inks officiating.

Steve was born on April 20, 1965, in Central City, Neb., to Leslie and Barbara (Bentley) McHargue. He grew up on the family farm and graduated in 1983 from Nebraska Christian High School, in Central City. Steve graduated summa cum laude from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln (1987) with a BS degree in mechanized agriculture.

On Feb. 20, 1988, Steve was united in marriage to Kristen Wibbels. Their first home was in Battle Creek, Neb., where he worked for Farmland Industries. In 1990, they moved to Honolulu, Hawaii, where he served as manager of the Kelly estate. They moved from there to Sioux City, where he worked with Rhone-Poulenc and was a lay youth leader at Central Baptist Church. At the time of his death, Steve was serving as the director of mobilization for Reign Ministries in Minneapolis.

Over the years, Steve served his wife and children faithfully and was passionate about serving in youth ministry in a number of churches and parachurch organizations. His great love was working with students and seeing them grow in their faith in Christ. He was a member of Church of the Open Door, a proud dance father and supporter of Kincade Dance Industries.

Steve was a loving father and wonderful servant leader. Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Kristen; his children, Corin and Isabelle; his father, Leslie McHargue; three brothers, Mark and Judi McHargue, Paul and Anna McHargue, Doug and Kelly McHargue, all of Central City, Neb.; and a sister, Joy and Tony Urwiller, of Inman, Kan.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Barbara Bentley McHargue.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the Steve McHargue Memorial Fund (http://bit.ly/ODE4lP) at Reign Ministries in Minneapolis.
