Phillip L. McNaughton, 70, of Vermillion, S.D., formerly of Sioux City, passed away Friday, Jan. 6, 2012, at his residence.

Services will be 2 p.m. Thursday at the National Guard Armory, 603 Franklin St., in Vermillion. Visitation will be held one hour prior to services Thursday at the armory. A luncheon will follow the service Thursday. Arrangements are under the direction of Waterbury Funeral Service in sergeant Bluff.

Phillip was born June 24, 1941, to LeRoy and Mildred (Fiscus) McNaughton, in Williams, Iowa.

Phillip married Jeanette Cain on Jan. 19, 1963, in Sioux City. Phillip was a retired metal fabricator of 30 years.

He loved hunting and fishing. He was a former member of the Cherokee Ridge Runners and in his later years enjoyed taking part in powwows and rendezvous.

Survivors include his wife of 49 years, Jeanette; son, John (Rebecca) of Yankton, S.D.; daughter, Shari Knudson of Vermillion; grandchildren, Kayla of Jackson, Neb., Cody, and Tara of Vermillion; four very special adopted grandchildren of Vermillion; brothers, Richard (Trish) McNaughton of South Sioux City, Benny Barnes of Sioux City, and Wayne Evans of Vermillion; sisters, Emma Easton of Sioux City, and Judy Thompson (Ron) of Sioux City; sister-in-laws, Marlene Hutchinson of Kansas, and Dorothy McNaughton of Sioux City; and many nieces, nephews and friends of many years.

Phillip was preceded in death by his parents; and six brothers, Ed, Jim, Darrell, Douglas, Russell, and Joseph Allen.
