Pat Shanahan, 89, of Sioux City passed away Jan. 4, 2012, at a Sioux City hospital.

Services will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel, with Deacon Fred Karpuk officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to service time Tuesday at the funeral home. Condolences may be sent online to www.meyerbroschapels.com.

Pat was born Dec. 10, 2911 in Lawton, Okla., to John and Toy (Frazier) Shanahan. He served in the U.S. Army Air Forces as a radio operator mechanic gunner with the rank of Technical Sergeant from Jan. 6, 1941 until Sept. 9, 1945. He was employed as an engineer with the Chicago Northwestern Railroad.

Survivors include three sons, John Shanahan of Grand Island, Neb., William Shanahan of Fayetteville, N.C., and Robert Shanahan of Atlanta, Ga.; seven grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife; his parents; two brothers; and one sister.
