Patricia E. Munson, 78, of Sioux City passed away Friday, at a Sioux City hospital.

Services will be held 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Boothby Funeral Home in Cherokee, Iowa, with the Rev. Gerry Bruhn officiating. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery at Cherokee. There will be a family prayer service held 10:15 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Visitation with the family present will be 9 a.m. until service time Tuesday at the funeral home. Patricia was born on April 12, 1933 to Arthur and Margaret (McClain) Brown at Cherokee, Iowa. She was united in marriage to Lyle Munson on Dec. 12, 1951 at Sioux City. She was a homemaker and had worked as a CNA at St. Joseph Hospital.

She had been a resident of Sioux City since 1951. Prior to that, she lived for a few years in Indianapolis, Ind., in Spencer, Iowa, and was originally from Cherokee, Iowa. In her younger years, she used to sing on the Cherokee Radio Station.

She was a member of the Bethany Lutheran Church. Patricia enjoyed crocheting, playing cards, scrapbooking, drawing and writing poetry.

Patricia is survived by her six children, Marlene (Ron) Ransom of Sioux City, Carol (Steve) Sorenson of Sioux City, Lesa (Wayne) Trudeau of Hospers, Iowa, Steve Munson of Sioux City, James Munson of Sioux City, and Patti (Dan) Marsh of South Sioux City; a daughter-in-law, Janice Munson of Sioux City; 17 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Lyle on May 30, 2010; and a son, Jerry Munson in 2008.
