Ray Calhoun, 72, of Sioux City passed away Wednesday, Feb. 22, 2012 at Holy Spirit Retirement Home.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. Michael Catholic Church in Sioux City, with the Rev. Gary Snyder as Celebrant. Interment will follow in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. today, with the family present at 6:00 p.m., and a 7 p.m. vigil service, at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel. Ray was born on Oct. 12, 1939 in Sioux City, the son of Walter and Catherine (Dreves) Calhoun. He grew up in the Leeds Community, attended Sioux City Schools, and graduated from Heelan High School in 1958. In 1960, Ray enlisted in the 185th Air National Guard and was honorably discharged in 1966. He began his career as an electrician shortly after graduation and over the years worked for several local contractors, and had his own electrical contracting business, Ray Calhoun Electric, for 10 years. Ray retired from his electrical business in 1998.

Ray married Patricia Ann Donahue on April 20, 1963 in Marshall, Minn. The marriage was blessed with three children and four grandchildren. Ray was a long-time member of St. Michael Catholic Church and a resident of Sioux City (Leeds).

Ray is survived by his wife, Patricia of Sioux City; children, Mary Pick and her husband Jeff of Sioux City, Kevin Calhoun and his wife Maria of Newport Beach, Calif., and Michael Calhoun and his wife Cara of LaQuinta, Calif.; grandchildren, Alicia and Alex Pick of Sioux City, and Ethan and Connor Calhoun in LaQuinta, Calif.; sisters, Margaret Hansen and her husband Wally of Sloan, Iowa, and Grace Kavanaugh and her husband Jim of Sioux City; brother, Larry Calhoun and his wife Marlys of Maricopa, Ariz.; sisters-in-law, Mary Willadsen and her husband Dave of Excelsior, Minn., and Lois Donahoe Cleary of Faribault, Minn.

Ray was preceded in death by his parents; brother-in-law, Richard Donahoe; and his faithful black lab, "Kelly."

Memorials may be offered to Hospice of Siouxland or Holy Spirit Retirement Home.
