Lioba “Obe” Wimmer age 72 of Danbury died Thursday February 26, 1998 at Sioux City, Iowa.

Services were held 10:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Danbury with Rev. David Hogan officiating. Concelebrating the Mass were Rev. Jim Tigges, Rev. Ray Welling and Rev. Charles Yetmar. Burial was in the Danbury Catholic Cemetery. A rosary was held on Friday at 3:30 p.m. by St. Mary’s Rosary Society and a Vigil Wake Service at 7:00 p.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Danbury.

Lioba (Obe) Mary Wimmer was born March 31, 1925 in Danbury, Iowa, the daughter of Frank and Margaret (Reimer) Erlemeier. She grew up and was educated at Danbury where she remained a lifelong community resident. On June 10, 1946 Obe was united in marriage to August E. Wimmer in Danbury. The couple farmed in rural Danbury until their retirement in 1986 when they moved into town.

She was an active member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Danbury. St. Mary's Rosary Society
where she held several offices as well as a long time member of St. Mary's Choir. She was also deeply involved with the Diocesan Council of Catholic Women and currently was president of the Blue Army. Obe found enjoyment in playing cards with family and friends, sewing, quilting and doing crafts.

Those survivors left to cherish her memory include August, her husband of 51 years: five daughter, Shirley and her husband, Jim Eisenbacher of Phoenix, Arizona, Rita and her husband, Dennis Nepper of Sioux City, Iowa, Alice Hare of Cherokee, Iowa, Marian and her husband, Melvin Pitts of Rembrandt, Iowa, and Donna and her husband, Stuart Dickman of Sioux City, Iowa; two sons and their wives, Raymond and Sherry Wimmer of Herculaneum, Missouri and Michael and Linda Wimmer of De Soto, Missouri; 23 grandchildren and seven great grandchildren; two sisters, Helen and her husband, Dick Flammang of Sioux City, Iowa and Jean Ernst of Danbury, Iowa, along with many other relatives, neighbors and good friends.

She was preceded in death by a daughter, Elizabeth, her parents and a brother. Ray.

Honorary pallbearers were granddaughters, Diane Eisenbacher, Laurie Myears, Mindy Hopkins, Maggie Dickman, Devi Nepper, Tammy Hare and Shelley Wimmer. Pallbearers were grandsons,
David Eisenbacher, Dean Eisenbacher, Kevin Parks, Damion Nepper, Scott Hare, Bill Wimmer, Tim Hale, Craig Wimmer, Danny Eisenbacher, Kenny Parks, Keith Parks, Bill Hare, Robby Hare, Frank Hale, Ryan Wimmer and Drew Dickman. Arrangements were made under the direction of the Armstrong Funeral Home of Danbury- Mapleton.
