SIOUX CITY | Lucile "Lucy" H. Whitney, 36, of Sioux City passed away Tuesday, May 22, 2012, at a local hospital.

Abiding by family wishes, cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be at 7 p.m. Sunday at Meyer Brothers Morningside Chapel. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Family requests no flowers or gifts be offered but suggests memorials be made to the donor's choice.

Lucy was born July 23, 1975, in Sioux City to Dennis and Linda (Wade) Whitney. She received her education in Sioux City, graduating with the Class of 1992 at East High School, and she received her bachelor of arts degree in library science from Morningside College. Lucy worked as a sales clerk at the Movie Gallery and most recently as a sales clerk at Barnes and Noble Bookstore. She enjoyed reading and taking long walks.

Lucy is survived by her mother Linda G. Whitney of Sioux City; brother Bruce Whitney of Tucson, Ariz.; and uncle James Wade of Medford, Ore.

Lucy was preceded in death by her father and maternal grandmother Florence Wade.
