SIOUX CITY | Jeanette K. Cole, 62, of Sioux City passed away Friday, May 11, 2012, at her residence following a recent surgery.

Services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel, with the Rev. Michael Erpelding officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home. Condolences may be sent online to www.meyerbroschapels.com.

Jeanette was born on Feb. 28, 1950, in Sioux City, the daughter of Paul and Yvonne (McFarland) Gordon. She grew up in Sioux City and attended Sioux City schools. She graduated from Central High School in 1968.

She married Dennis P. Cole on Sept. 14, 1968, in Sioux City. Jeanette worked at Western Iowa Tech Community College, the Prodenco Group, Federate Insurance and Great West Casualty in the Joe Morton Insurance office.

She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and family, bowling, camping, boating, and playing cards. She also enjoyed going to the casinos, playing computer games and reading.

Survivors include her husband, Dennis of Sioux City; three children, Sharron K. Kockler and her husband, Jamie of Dallas, Texas, Denise Houtkooper and her husband, Steve of Omaha, and Steven Cole of San Diego, Calif.; six brothers and sisters and their spouses, Allan and Barb Gordon of Sumterville, Fla., Paula and Ernie Harrigfeld of Jackson, Neb., Marian and Allen Ryden of Waterloo, Iowa, Donna and Doug Lourens of Sioux City, Chuck and Sara Gordon of Sioux City, and Lori and Brad Johns of Sioux City; two grandchildren, Carter and Jaiden Houtkooper; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Darin; and two sisters, Connie and Sheila.

Pallbearers will be Jamie Gordon, Joe Gordon, Chuck C. Gordon, Heath Johns, Kai Johns, and Ernie Harrigfeld.
