MOVILLE, Iowa -- Juliet A. Metcalf, 91, formerly of Moville, passed away Sunday, May 6, 2012, at the home of her daughter and son-in-law in Omaha, Neb.

The service in Juliet's memory will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at United Methodist Church in Moville, with the Rev. Ed Frank officiating. The family will be present at the church one hour prior to the service. Interment will be in Arlington Cemetery in Moville, with family present, at a later date. Arrangements are under the direction of John A. Gentleman Mortuary in Omaha.

Juliet was born May 19, 1920, in Brooklyn, N.Y., the daughter of Lester Ward Auman and Esther Morsch Auman. The daughter of a Methodist minister, she resided in numerous homes in Connecticut and Long Island, N.Y. While attending high school, Juliet played lacrosse and was named to the First Team All Long Island Lacrosse Team during her senior year.

Juliet attended and in 1941 graduated Phi Beta Kappa from Ohio Wesleyan University, where she was a member of Mortar Board and Alpha Xi Delta Sorority. She attended law school at the University of Wisconsin, graduating with Order of the Coif honors in 1943. She was editor-in-chief of the Wisconsin Law Review her senior year, but in her words, "All the men were off to war."

On Sept. 28, 1943, she married Glenn C. Metcalf Jr. They settled in her adopted hometown of Moville in 1948. There, Juliet worked in the law office with her husband and pursued many interests, including golf, flying as an instrument-rated commercial pilot, ballroom dancing and playing duplicate bridge.

Juliet was a member of United Methodist Church of Moville, United Methodist Women and the church bell choir. She was a member of Meadows Golf Club.

She is survived by her daughters, Jacquelyn Criger (Gary) of Bolingbrook, Ill., and Jillann Bolshaw (Daniel) of Omaha; her son, Glenn Metcalf (Susan) of Moville; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Juliet was preceded in death by her husband, Glenn C. Metcalf Jr., on Oct. 31, 2001.
