During the same year he came here Mr. Mohrhauser was married May 22, to Rosa Orth. Six children blessed this union. They are George J. and Edward, Danbury; John Jr., Mapleton, Sister Christina, Charter Oak.

A brother, George, and a sister, Lena, preceded Mr. Mohrhauser to the better world. A step-son, Joe Orth resides in Danbury.

Mr. Mohrhauser resided all of his life in Iowa. For 56 years he was a resident of Danbury and community during which time he farmed for 47 years and the past 9 lived in Danbury.

Mr. Mohrhauser’s illness was short and his death came as a blow to the community. The previous Sunday he attended church and was down town. Feeling ill he consulted the doctor and on Tuesday August 8 entered the Sioux City St. Joseph’s hospital for observation. There he died four days later Saturday August 12.

Funeral services were held Wednesday August 16, in the Danbury St. Mary’s Catholic Church when many paid their last respects to the memory of a good man. Rev. A. J. Arndorfer read the mass. Burial was made in the Danbury St. Mary’s cemetery under the direction of Fitzpatrick’s Funeral Home. The pallbearers were six grandsons; George J. Mohrhauser, Jr., Albert Mohrhauser, Emmett Mohrhauser, Bernard Mohrhauser, Joseph Mohrhauser and Edwin Mohrhauser.

Mr. Mohrhauser was one of our best citizens and was beloved by all from the youth to the aged. He is sadly missed by all who met him daily. He was faithful to the Catholic faith and his community and country. He gave aid to building the local St. Patrick and St. Mary’s parishes in Danbury over 40 years ago. The beloved wife, family and friends can find solace in a fond memory of one who lived a useful and upright life.
