Pioneer Dies

Mrs. John Mohrhauser, Sr., 87, respected and beloved Danbury resident, died Thursday in her home from the infirmities attendant to old age. Mrs. Mohrhauser had been in poor health since June but was bedfast just four weeks prior to her death. During her illness she was given tender care and nothing was left undone for her comfort.

Funeral services for Mrs. Mohrhauser were held Monday morning at 9’o’clock in the Danbury St. Mary’s church with Rev. A J Arndorfer officiating. Burial was made in the Danbury St. Mary’s cemetery. The church and graveside services were attended by many relatives and friends of the family. Funeral arrangements were in charge of the Fitzpatrick Funeral Home.

The pallbearers were six grandsons of Mrs. Mohrhauser; George Mohrhauser, Jr., Albert Mohrhauser, Joe Mohrhauser, Edwin Mohrhauser, Clements Orth and Raymond Orth.

Miss Rosa Uehle was born in Fursthum, Lechtenstien, Germany, December 17, 1853 and at the age of 12 came to America with her parents and the family in 1865 and first settled at Guttenberg, Iowa.
She was married to Clements Orth at New Vienna, Iowa. One son, Joe Orth, was born to this union. Mr. Orth died 61 years ago.

On May 22, 1888 she was united in marriage in Danbury to John Mohrhauser. For 47 years they lived on the Mohrhauser farm near town moving to Danbury 10 years ago to spend their declining years. Mr. Mohrhauser died August 12, 1939.

To Mr. and Mrs. Mohrhauser six children were born. They are George J. Mohrhauser and Edward Mohrhauser, Danbury; John Mohrhauser, Jr., Mapleton; Sister M Christina, Charter Oak, A son, Carl, died 21 years ago and Frances died in infancy. Besides the four living children she is also survived by 27 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren. A brother, Jacob Uehle and a sister Mrs. Anna Sevening, survive.

A granddaughter, Miss Marie Orth, made her home with her grandmother.

Mrs. Mohrhauser was a real pioneer women in every sense of the word. She toiled on the farm with her husband when the state was in the making and contributed her share to make the country bigger and better among the galaxy of states of the union. She was a Christian mother who loved her home and family and many were the golden deeds performed for everyone who came her way. Her good qualities remain forever to attest to her fine type of womanhood. She lived far beyond the allotted time of humans and her mortal journal came to an end just like the closing of a day.

The Review joins the many friends and family in extending their sympathy in the loss of their best friend.
