Smithland, Iowa—Charles Wesley Hall, 86, of Smithland died Tuesday in a nursing home in Whiting.

Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Saturday in the Smithland United Methodist Church. The Rev. Dale Church will officiate. Burial will be in the Smithland Little Sioux Township Cemetery under the direction of the Willman Funeral Home of Rodney.

Mr. Hall was born Nov. 5, 1896 in Anthon. In 1911 he moved with his family to a farm near Smithland. He graduated from Smithland High School in 1915 and later completed auctioneering school in Chicago.

He married Bethene Cox Feb. 24, 1920, at Sioux City. They farmed near Smithland until their retirement. She died Nov. 16, 1982.

Mr. Hall was a member of the Smithland United Methodist Church.

Survivors include one daughter, Mrs. Clem (Macil) Claus of Smithland, one son, Donald Hall of Denver, Colo.; two brothers, Otis of Sioux City and Kenneth of Ajo, Ariz.; one sister, Mrs. Joy Grove of Sioux City; four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
