Betty Lou Lewis, 69, of Jefferson, S.D. formerly of Sioux City, died Thursday, April 27, 1995, at a local hospital following a sudden illness.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday at Riverside United Methodist Church with the Rev. Merrill Muller officiating. Burial will be in Arlington Cemetery in Moville, Iowa. Visitation will be 1 to 8:30 p.m. Sunday, with a 7 p.m. Eastern Star service and the family present 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the Berkemier Funeral Home in Sioux City.

Mrs. Lewis was born February 8, 1926, in Correction, Iowa, the daughter of Ernest and Adelia (Claussen) Jacobs. She attended Correctionville schools and after graduating from Correctionville High School in 1944, she taught school for a short time in the Anthon (Iowa) area. She married Donald E. Lewis June 26, 1945, in Sioux City, where the couple made their home until moving to rural Jefferson in 1976.

Mrs. Lewis was of the Methodist faith. She was a member of the Order of Eastern Star Chapter and the Merm Sahibs and was Past Mother Advisor of Riverside Rainbow Assembly and a past Girl Scout leader.

Survivors include her husband; two daughters, Lynette Lewis of Sioux City, and Kristy and her husband, Tom Oelberg of New Ulm, Minn.; three grandchildren, Angela Williams, Allan Allard and Joleen Fix, and three great-grandchildren

She was preceded in death by a daughter, Donita Fix.
