ANTHON, Iowa -- Esther E. Miller, 84, of Anthon died Monday, Nov. 18, 2002, at a Sioux City hospital.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday at United Methodist Church in Anthon, with the Rev. Karl Harman officiating. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be after 2 p.m. today, with a prayer service at 7 p.m., at Armstrong Funeral Home in Anthon.

Esther Edna Miller was born June 16, 1918, on the family farm east of Anthon, the daughter of Edward and Mary (Brant) Sand.

She married Everts J. Miller on Aug. 14, 1941, in Dakota City. The couple farmed north of Anthon. She worked at Swift's turkey processing plant in Sioux City and retired from the farm. Everts died May 25, 1985.

She love to garden, dress chickens and helped in the fields. She loved spending time with her family and great-granddaughter, with one on the way. She was a member of United Methodist Church.

Those left to cherish her memory include a son and his wife, Royce and Fay Miller of Anthon; two grandsons, Everts John III and Chad Alan and his wife, Christy Miller; a granddaughter, Dawn Lynn Hadley and her husband, Darrell; a great-granddaughter, Jade Lynn Hadley; a sister, Josephine Jorgensen of Colorado; and many nieces and nephews.

She also was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, August, Scott and Nick; a brother-in-law, Nels Jorgensen; and a grandson, James M. Miller.
