Anthon, Iowa—Alvena C. Smith, 88, of Anthon died Tuesday, July 26, 1988 at the home of her daughter in Anthon after a long illness.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday in Trinity Lutheran Church in Moville with the Rev. Roger Semmler officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery in Sioux City. Visitation is after 2 p.m. today with a prayer service at 7:30 p.m. in Walter Funeral Home in Anthon.

Mrs. Smith, the former Alvena Allner, was born October 25, 1899 in Woodbury County. She married George Smith December 11, 1918 in Sioux City. The couple farmed in the Climbing Hill and Anthon area until 1969 when they retired and moved to Moville. He died March 10, 1978. The last two years, she lived in Anthon with her daughter.

Mrs. Smith was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church of Moville and the Senior Citizens Group of Moville.

Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Mae Hinds of Anthon and Mrs. Darrell (Lorraine) Smith of Sioux City; a sister, Mrs. Clarence (Emily) Thomas of Correctionville; five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
