Funeral Services Held Friday For Joseph Mogensen

Funeral services for Joseph E. Mogensen, 22, of Moville, were held Friday, January 24, 1986 at 1:00 p.m. in the Christy Morningside Funeral Home in Sioux City. The Rev. Mark Buchhop of Bethel Lutheran Church in Lawton officiated. Interment in Graceland Park Cemetery in Sioux City.

Mr. Darman Rock, solist, sang “What A Friend We Have In Jesus” and “ How Great Thou Art.”
Casketbearers were Messr. Nick Wright, Pat Welch, Mike Lias, Tyler Drumm, Tim Smutzer and Herb Laugley.

Mr. Mogensen was born April 16, 1963, in Sioux City. He lived in Oregon and returned to Pierson with his family at the age of 9. He attended Kingsley-Pierson High School and received a GED at Woodbury 7001. He attended a welding class at Western Iowa Tech Community College. He married Melanie Lill May 23, 1982, in Sioux City. They made their home in Moville.

Mr. Mogensen died Tuesday, January 21, 1986 of injuries suffered in an accident at the home of his parents in Pierson.

Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Darci Jo and a son, Kasey Craig, both at home; his parents, Ray and Pat Mogensen of Pierson; a sister, Donna Mogensen of Pierson; two brothers, Tony of Sioux City and Rick with the U.S. Marine Corps in San Diego, and his paternal grandmother, Mrs. Anna Mogensen of Pierson.
