Lawton, Iowa—Fred E. Weigel, 88, Route 1, Lawton, retired grocer died Saturday, Sept. 3, 1988 in a Sioux City hospital after a long illness.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday in Glendale Community Baptist Church in Sioux City with the Rev. Dwight Gernard officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4-9 p.m. Tuesday with a prayer service at 7 p.m. in the Nelson-Berger Morningside Chapel.

Mr. Weigel was born March 14, 1900, at Albaton and lived in the Sioux City area all his life. He married Esther M. Widner May 7, 1927, in Elk Point, S.D. He was owner and operator of Weigel Grocery Store in Kelly Park for 21 years, retiring in 1965.

Mr. Weigel was a longtime member of Glendale Community Baptist Church and a former member of the Sioux Gun Club.

Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Mrs. Dale (Jacqueline) Danielsen of Roscoe, Ill., and Mrs. Robert (Patricia) Bennett of Lawton; three sisters, Mrs. Mildred Griffen, Mrs. Mabel Weigel and Mrs. Alice Loibl, all of Augusta, Wis.; six grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
