Lawton, Iowa—Margie P. Maude, 84, of Lawton died Friday, January 24, 1997 at Sunrise Retirement Community at Sioux City.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Community Presbyterian Church at Lawton, with the Rev. Benjamin Ray, of the First Presbyterian Church of Battle Creek, Iowa, and the Rev. Mark Phillips of Good Shepherd United Methodist Church of Mandan, ND, a grandson-in-law, officiating. Burial will be in Banner Township Cemetery at Lawton. Visitation will be from 3 to 9 p.m. today with the family present from 7 to 8 p.m. at Christy, Smith & Hockenberry Funeral Home.

Mrs. Maude was born February 22, 1912, at Lawton to Willard and Maude (Joseph) McNaughton. She graduated from Lawton High School and the Methodist School of Nursing at Sioux City. She married Noel H. on June 16, 1934, at Fairmount, Minn. He died October 6, 1989 at Sergeant Bluff, Iowa. A lifetime resident of Lawton, she had worked as a nurse supervisor at Methodist Hospital for many years, retiring in 1962. Since then, she had done flower arranging for proms, weddings, funeral, etc. She was known for dressing dolls for the Salvation Army at Christmas time and for church missions projects. She wrote a book on the history of Lawton for its centennial celebration.

She was a member of the Community Presbyterian Church at Lawton, where she and her husband had been custodian of the church for many years. She was also a member of the Lawton Garden Club and the UTD Club of Lawton.

Survivors include three daughters and their husbands, Margaret and Herbert Crampton of Storm Lake, Iowa, Shirley and Gordon Morrice of Battle Creek, Iowa, Kay and Gary Puttman of Sioux Center, Iowa; two sisters, Ruby and her husband, Doug Johnson of Sioux City, Dorothy Kennett of Sergeant Bluff, a brother and his wife, Richard and Betty McNaughton of Lawton; seven grandchildren, Scott and Kevin Crampton, Ginger Phillips, Dennis Morrice, Todd, Shawn and Shannon Puttman; and four great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband; a brother, Raymond; and two infant sisters.

Memorials may be given to the Community Presbyterian Church of Lawton.
