Lawton, Iowa—Letha M. (Powers) Stilwell, 89, of Lawton died Saturday, July 20, 1996, at Casa De Paz Nursing Home in Sioux City following a lengthy illness.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Community Presbyterian Church in Lawton and the Rev. William F. Skinner, of the First Presbyterian Church in Sioux City, officiating. Burial will be in Banner Township Cemetery in Lawton. Visitation will be 9 a.m. Tuesday until service time at the church. McCulloch Funeral of Moville is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Stilwell was born January 8, 1907 in Paulina, the daughter of Francis M. and Clara (Ehly) Powers. She graduated from Paullina High School and nurses training at the Methodist Hospital in Sioux City.

She married Lester H. Stilwell, February 5, 1931 in Aurelia. He died May 31, 1988, in Sioux City. She spent most of her life in the Lawton area and was a nurse at the Methodist Hospital in Sioux City for several years.

Mrs. Stilwell was a member of the Community Presbyterian Church in Lawton for many years. She was a member of the Variety Club and UTD Club , both of Lawton.

Survivors include three sons and their wives, Lewis and Gertrude of Tucson, Ariz., Ronald and Shirley of Lawton and Jerry and Joyce of Lawton; a daughter, Shirley and her husband, John Bexten of Omaha; a sister, Eunice Ebel of Primghar; 11 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild and many nieces and nephews.

She was also preceded in death by two brothers and three sisters.

A memorial has been established in her name with the Community Presbyterian Church in Lawton.
