Lawton, Iowa—Louis G. Shoemaker, 82, of Lawton died Friday, February 17, 1995, at a Sioux City hospital following a short illness.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday at the Community Presbyterian Church in Lawton with the Rev. Robert e. Peters officiating. Burial will be in the Banner Township Cemetery. Visitation will be 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. today, with a prayer service at 7 p.m. at the McCulloch Funeral Home in Moville.

He was born April 28, 1912 in Moville, the son of Lucian and Edith (Blanche) Haller. He grew up in Bronson, Iowa, and graduated from Bronson High School in 1930. He attended the National Business Training School in Sioux City. He married Beatrice L. “Bubbie” Grigg June 24, 1934, in Elk Point, S.D. The couple moved to Sioux City in 1935, where they lived until his military service during World War II. He served in the Air Force for 19 months in Saipan. After his discharge in 1945 they moved to Lawton. He worked for the James Bennett Co. for several years and then went to work for the Palmer Co. where he worked for 50 years, retiring as manager.

Mr. Shoemaker was a member of the Community Presbyterian Church. He also belonged to the Trail Masonic Lodge 532, AF & AM of Moville, the Sioux City Consistory, and Post 718 of the American Legion of Lawton. He was past president of the Sioux City Bowling Association.

Survivors include his wife; a daughter and her husband, Patricia and Bill Wollenhaupt of Omaha, Nebr.; a sister, Mae Cameron of Brea, Calif.; two grandchildren, DeAnn Wintie and Gregg Wollenhaupt, both of Omaha, Nebr.

He was preceded in death by two sisters, Lucille Ruedy and Eunice Eames.

Memorials have been established in his name with the Community Presbyterian Church of Lawton and Americare.
