Edith L. Yates, 88, Matney Morningside Manor, died Tuesday, June 20, 1995, at a Sioux City hospital following a lengthy illness.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Christy Smith & Hockenberry Morningside Funeral Home with the Rev. Alex T. Washington officiating. Burial will be in Banner Township Cemetery at Lawton, Iowa. Visitation will be 7 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Mrs. Yates, the former Edith McNaughton, was born Jan. 9, 1907, in Boone, Iowa. She married William Yates Feb. 12, 1930 in Sioux City. He died Nov. 17, 1969 in Anthon, Iowa. She had resided in Anthon prior to becoming a resident of Matney Morningside Manor.

Survivors include a daughter, LaVonne Walker of Sioux City; a son, Tom Yates of Sioux City, a granddaughter, Connie Campbell; a grandson, Chet Walker; and two great-granddaughters.

She was also preceded in death by a son, Robert Yates.

Pallbearers will be George Campbell, Tom Grantham, Michael Swingen and Chet Walker.
