LAWTON, Iowa -- E. Jewell Stoneking Kempton, 85, of Lawton died Tuesday, March 5, 2002, at a Sioux City nursing home.

Memorial services will be held at a later date. Burial will be in Banner Township Cemetery, Lawton. Arrangements are under the direction of Nelson-Berger Northside Chapel.

Mrs. Kempton was born July 16, 1916, in Lawton, the daughter of Thomas and Elsie Belle (Moore) Harrison. She moved with her family to Craik, Saskatchewan, Canada as a child. They returned to Lawton in the early 1930s.

She married Elmer Stoneking in January 1940. He died July 1964. She later married Robert Kempton and her died in February 1981.

She was a member of Lawton Presbyterian Church.

Survivors include a son and his wife, Tom and Patricia Stoneking of McConnelsville, Ohio; a stepson, Wendell Stoneking of Oklahoma City, Okla.; eight grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; and numerous cousins.

She was also preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Tom and Robert Harrison; and a sister, Doris Abrams.
