SIOUX CITY -- Dorothy Ann (Olson) Mott, 92, formerly of Sioux City, beloved mother, grandmother and sister, peacefully passed away on Tuesday, March 1, 2011, in Sugar Land, Texas.

As per her desire, funeral services will be private.

Dorothy was born June 25, 1918, in Sioux City, to John A. and Anna Barbara Olson. Dorothy grew up in Sioux City, and graduated from Morningside College with a degree in English, and later went on to get her master's degree.

During her career, Dorothy worked at Syracuse University, where she was the dean of the English Department, at the University of Texas, where she was the head of the Student Center, and finally at Purdue University.

It was at Purdue where she met her husband, Fredrick Hohmann Mott from Tulsa, Okla., and they married in 1950.

Dorothy left us with many lasting memories, and the solid values and virtues she instilled in us through the way she lived her life.

Dorothy is survived by her children, Barbara Marr and her husband Mike, Fred Mott and his wife Jan, and John Mott and his wife Lori; grandchildren, Kate and Max Marr, Chris, Cori, Joshua, Eric, Amanda, and Jennifer Mott; and brother, John Robert Olson.

She was preceded in death by her husband and parents.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Dorothy's memory may be made to the Alzheimer's Association/Southeast Texas Chapter @www.alz.org/texas.
