SALIX, Iowa -- Jana Earline Small, 72, of Medford, Minn., formerly of Salix, died Thursday, March 3, 2011, at Kenyon Sunset Home.

Memorial services will be 11 a.m. Friday, March 11, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Salix. Interment will be in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be 3 to 5 p.m. today at Michaelson Funeral Home in Owatonna, Minn. Visitation will resume 10 a.m. until service time Friday, March 11, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Salix.

She was born Jan. 23, 1939, in Sloan, Iowa, the daughter of John and Jane (Baker) Dunagan. Jana graduated from Sloan High School in 1957.

She married Fred Linscott in 1957 and together they had two sons. Jana worked at the Salix Elevator and later in the lab at the Farmland Bean Plant. On Oct. 31, 1981, she married Francis Small at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Salix. He preceded her in death in 2002. Jana also worked at Pioneer Bank in Sergeant Bluff and retired in 2007.

She loved spending time with her husband, Francie. The two of them enjoyed fishing, camping and traveling together. Jana had an amazing sense of humor and was always full of life. Above all, she cherished the time she could spend with her grandchildren.

Jana is survived by her sons, Glenn Linscott of Ottawa, Kan., and Steven (Teresa) Linscott of West Concord, Minn.; stepchildren, Linda (Steve) Hopkins, Connie Warnicki, Margie (Mike) Bennett, Evelyn Murkins, Bill Small, Donny Small; 11 grandchildren; brother, Darrell (Nola) Dunagan of Sergeant Bluff.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Francis; brothers, Wayne, Morris, Mike, John; sister, Francis and stepson, Dick.
