Janet L. Rivera, 44, 4412 Polk St. computer operator, died Friday, November 17, 1989, in a Sioux City hospital after a short illness.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday in Bethel Baptist Church with the Rev. Walden Askren, pastor and the Rev. LeRoy Lee, Kingsley (Iowa) Baptist Church officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4-9 p.m. today with the family present from 7-9 p.m. in Nelson-Berger Morningside Chapel.
Mrs. Rivera, the former Janet L. Petersen was born December 8, 1944 in O’Neill, Nebr. She attended O’Neill schools and graduated from O’Neill High School in 1963. She attended business school and moved to Chicago in 1964. On October 1970 she married Raymond Rivera in Chicago. The couple moved to Sioux City in 1972. While in Chicago she was employed with Western Union as a key punch operator, and at E.F. Hutton prior to moving to Sioux City where she had been a computer operator for Banks of Iowa for 15 years.
Mrs. Rivera was a member of Bethel Baptist Church where she was a member of the Women’s Missionary Fellowship, the AWANA Club and the church choir.
Survivors include her husband, Ray, a daughter, Leah at home, her father, Orville Petersen of Kingsley, Iowa, a brother, Marvin Korab of Denver, Colo, and a sister, Mrs. Al (Leone) Leibert of Battle Creek, Mich.
