24 April 2011SIOUX CITY -- Thaddeus "Ted" P. Koson, 81, of Sioux City passed away on Thursday, April 21, 2011, at a Sioux City hospital.
Services for Ted will be 2 p.m. Monday at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel, with the Rev. Michael Erpelding officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, with military rites conducted by the U.S. Army Reserves. Visitation will be noon to service time Monday at the funeral home. Ted was born Feb. 20, 1930, in Sioux City, the son of Frank and Emma (Sikorski) Koson. He grew up in Sioux City and attended Sioux City Schools, graduating from Central High School. He served his country in the U.S. Army stationed in Anchorage, Alaska, during the Korean War.
Ted was married to Evelyn Nagel on Feb. 14, 1970 in Doon, Iowa. Ted worked at a couple of packing plants for several years and later was employed by the Sioux City School System for over 20 years. He enjoyed dog racing for many years, and he loved to walk until arthritis forced him to stop. He also enjoyed gardening.
He is survived by his wife, Evelyn Koson of Sioux City; two brothers, Stephen and John (Bev) Koson of Sioux City; several brothers and sister's-in-laws; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; several aunts and uncles; and two sisters-in-laws.
