25 April 2011MOVILLE, Iowa -- Donna Louise Bleil, 80, of Moville died Friday, April 22, 2011, at a Sioux City hospital.
Services will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at Moville United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Ed Frank officiating. Burial will follow in Arlington Township Cemetery at Moville. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. today, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m., and a prayer service at 7 p.m., at the church. Arrangements are under the direction of McCulloch Chapel, Christy-Smith Funeral Home. Online condolences can be sent to www.christysmith.com.
Donna was born Sept. 8, 1930, to Alvin and Blanche (Allen) Hansen. The family made their home in Moville, where Donna grew up and attended school, graduating from Moville High School in 1949. She married James Bleil Sr. on June 26, 1949, at her parents' home in Moville. The couple lived on a farm near Moville and raised five children, Jimmy, Jody, Jan, Jeff and Jay.
Donna was a caring, loving, easy going and family-oriented person. Her hobbies included playing cards, dancing, music, crocheting everything from baby blankets to family names, which can be found in homes framed all across the countryside, knitting, quilting and sports, golf being her favorite. She also loved to travel and go sight seeing, especially to places that were filled with flowers and plants.
Donna's greatest passion was her family. She loved to be surrounded by them, whether it was for a holiday gathering or some other event. She always wanted everybody to be together and did her best to make sure everyone had a good time. She was a member of the Moville United Methodist Church, a member of the United Methodist Women and helped serve during many church dinners as well as the church lunch counter at the Woodbury County Fair.
Survivors include her husband, James of Moville; a son, Jimmy and his wife, Sally Bleil of Moville; a daughter, Jody and her husband, Charlie Grimes of Sioux City; a daughter, Jan and her husband, Ron Amick of Sioux City; a son, Jeff and his wife, Patti Bleil of Stanfield, Ariz.; and a son, Jay and his wife, Jacque Bleil of Lawton, Iowa. Also, 14 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren; her brother, Allen Hansen and his friend, Margaret of Wayne, Neb.; and her very special friend of many, many year, Lee McElrath.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Ron Hansen.
