ANTHON, Iowa -- Ron Schrunk, 71, formerly of Anthon, passed away Tuesday, April 19, 2011, at his home near Worden, Mont.

Service will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Smith Downtown Chapel in Billings, Mont. Interment will be in Pleasantview Cemetery, Ballantine, Mont. A reception will follow at Huntley United Methodist Church in Huntley, Mont. Visitations will begin this afternoon at Smith Downtown Chapel in Billings.

He was born April 11, 1940, in Anthon and moved to Montana in the fall of 1979 to pursue a life out West.

Ron was a hard worker and loved animals, especially horses. This combination, along with a desire to help others, molded the man we all knew. A man deeply committed to the Masonic Lodge, the Al Bedoo Shriners, the Scottish Rite, and the Huntley United Methodist Church. Community involvement brought Ron into contact with many individuals, some facing life-changing situations. His zest and flair for telling stories and cracking jokes always made a difficult life just a little bit easier to bear. He could always find a little humor in any situation and often laughed the loudest at himself.

Ron was not always happy with the hand that was dealt to him and was especially frustrated with how his body limited his abilities. Ron, we know you have no restraints now and you are once again digging your postholes with both hands. You have your horse saddled and you are ready for a good long ride.

Ron is survived by his wife of 30 years; his brothers; and a sister. He also leaves behind his children; grandchildren; nieces, and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and by two of his children.

Memorials may be sent to the Huntley United Methodist Church at P.O. Box 184, Huntley, MT. 59037, or to a charity of your choice.
