ANTHON, Iowa -- Margaret A. Green, 87, of Anthon passed away Thursday, April 7, 2011, at a Sioux City hospital.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Anthon, with the Rev. Terry Roder officiating. Burial will be in Mt. St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery at Anthon. Visitation will be 3 to 8 p.m. today, with a rosary at 3:30 p.m. by St. Joseph's Guild and a vigil wake service at 7 p.m., at the Armstrong Funeral Home in Anthon. Visitation will resume 9 a.m. to service time Monday at the church.

Margaret Arlene Green was born April 24, 1923, east of Oto, Iowa, the daughter of Albert and Ella S. (Crawford) Huffman. She was united in marriage to Marvin Edward "Bud" Green on Sept. 30, 1939 at Storm Lake, Iowa. She was employed at Wincharger and Zenith Corporation at Sioux City. For many years she cooked at the Anthon School as well as farming with her husband in rural Anthon. Bud passed away Feb. 16, 1989.

Margaret was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Anthon. She loved her garden and cooking and enjoyed coffee time with her friends.

Survivors include three daughters, Elaine Sands of Lake Park, Ga., Diane (Ronald) Wasmund of Arnolds Park, Iowa, and Linda (Tom) Leesley of Dakota Dunes, S.D.; nine grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; four great-stepgrandchildren; and six great-great-stepgrandchildren.

Along with her husband, Margaret was preceded in death by her parents; a grandson, Monty Sands; a brother, Paul Huffman; and sisters, Velma Hampton, Thelma Huffman and Vera Green.
