SIOUX CITY -- Shirley F. Lindblom, 91, of Sioux City died Tuesday, April 5, 2011, at a Sioux City hospital following a brief illness.

Services will be 7 p.m. today at Augustana Lutheran Church, with the Rev. Del Olivier officiating. Family graveside services will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 5 to 7 p.m. today at the church. Arrangements are under the direction of Morningside Chapel, Christy-Smith Funeral Home.

Shirley was born June 22, 1919, in Danbury, Iowa, to Dr. George and Virginia (Hose) Folkins. She graduated from Danbury High School in 1936 and continued her education at National Business Training in Sioux City.

Shirley was united in marriage to Earl Owen Lindblom on Nov. 23, 1941. They lived in California while Earl was in the U.S. Coast Guard and returned to Sioux City in 1945. Shirley was the caregiver to her husband through the many years of his illness until his death on Jan. 25, 1971. She then worked at several businesses ending with 23 years in the Clerk of District Court office, retiring in 2003.

She was a member of Augustana Lutheran Church and an avid sewer of the Piece Corps Quilters at the church. She also was a member of the Daughters of the Nile and a former member of the Order of the Eastern Star.

Survivors include two sons, Thomas D. "Tom" Lindblom and his wife, Mary, and Richard W. "Dick" Lindblom; and two grandsons, Thomas D. "TJ" Lindblom Jr. and Carl E. Lindblom.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; an infant sister, Irene; a brother, Roy C. Folkins; and two grandchildren.

Memorials in her name may be directed to Augustana Lutheran Church, the Abu Bekr Shrine Transportation Fund or Latham Park.
