SIOUX CITY -- Anne Marie Thomas, 92, of Omaha, formerly Sioux City, died Tuesday, April 5, 2011, at Josie Harper Hospice House in Omaha.

Services will be 10 a.m. today at Morningside Chapel, Christy-Smith Funeral Home in Sioux City, with the Rev. Dan Guenther officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be 9 a.m. until service time today at the funeral home.

Anne was born Feb. 2, 1919, in Sioux City, to James and Veronica (Vanagus) Meilunas. She grew up in Sioux City and graduated from East High School in 1937.

In 1939, she married Martin T. Thomas. She resided in Sioux City until after World War II. At that time, they moved to Ames, Iowa, so he could finish school. After that, they moved to Cedar Rapids, Iowa, where she was employed as a secretary and bookkeeper. They later moved to Arkansas, then to Lincoln, Neb., and finally settled in Omaha in 1962, where she resided until the time of her passing.

She was a former member of St. Casmier Catholic Church in Sioux City. She also was a member of Christ the King Catholic Church in Omaha. She and her husband were members of the Elks Club. She also enjoyed gardening, collecting and garage sales.

Survivors include her sister, Sophie Bisland of Omaha; a niece, Karin Bisland of Omaha; a brother-in-law, Victor Tamashunas; a nephew, John Tamashunas; and a niece, Vicki Syslo.

She was preceded in death by her husband and her parents.
