SIOUX CITY -- Violet M. Wilcox, 81, of Sioux City, beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great-grandmother, entered into the glory of her eternal life on Friday, April 1, 2011, at Touchstone Living Center surrounded by her loving family.

Services will be held noon Tuesday at Church at the Gate in North Sioux City, with the Rev. Charlie Bauman officiating. Burial will follow in McCook Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 10 a.m. and conclude at noon Tuesday at the church. Arrangements are under the direction of Waterbury Funeral Service.

Violet was born Aug. 29, 1929, in Clarinda, Iowa, to Faye E. and Effie B. (Adams) Squires. She enjoyed crocheting, attending church services and, most of all, spending time with family. Life was full of delicate, humorous and caring conversations. Her strength was immeasurable. She will be greatly missed by all those fortunate to have known her.

Left behind to externally treasure her memory are her children, David and wife, Carol Webster, Rick and wife, Becky Lasley, Brenda Clark, Tom and wife, Vickie Wolverton, Larry and wife, Barb Wolverton, Louis Wolverton and Lowell Wilcox; brothers, Johnny Squires, Art Squires and Kenny Squires; sisters, Anna Squires and Rosie McLarnon; many grandchildren; great-grandchildren; and great-great-grandchildren.

Violet was preceded in death by her parents, Faye and Effie Squires; husband, Vernon Wilcox; sister, Mary Ruby; daughter-in-law, Daisy Wilcox and grandchild.
