SIOUX CITY -- Joy Marie Keller, 85, formerly of Sioux City, died peacefully Friday, May 13, 2011.

Joy was born March 16, 1926, to Henry and Loretto Cody in Sioux City.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. Hilary Church in Tiburon, Calif. A vigil service will be 7 p.m. today at the church. Arrangements are under the direction of The Neptune Society of Northern California in Novato, Calif.

Joy graduated from Cathedral High School in 1944, St. Vincent's Nursing School in 1947 and Briar Cliff College in 1950, all in Sioux City.

On Dec. 27, 1950, she married Joe Keller, also a native of Sioux City. After the birth of their first child, they moved to California and soon bought a home in Tiburon where they raised their family.

Joy, an active mother of seven children, found time to enjoy tennis and skiing. Hospice by the Bay honored her for her volunteer work with them. She was devoted to St. Hilary Parish, where she worked as a school nurse, Outreach volunteer and Eucharistic minister to the homebound. Joy and Joe also enjoyed traveling the world before recently retiring to Aegis of Corte Madera.

Survivors include her husband of 60 years, L. Joseph Keller; her children and their families, son Bob (Kathleen) Keller and their son Joshua, daughter Barbara Keller, daughter Mary (Mattson) Austin, daughter Nancy (Grae) Stevens, son James (Quita) Keller, daughter Catherine Keller (Freddy Rundlet) and daughter Susan Keller; and a brother, Robert H. (Shirley M.) Cody of La Junta, Colo., and their children.
