CUSHING, Iowa -- Emma Jean Lundt, 87, of Cushing passed away on Friday, April 22, 2011, at the Correctionville Nursing and Rehab Center.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. John Lutheran Church of Cushing, with the Rev Beverly Wolff officiating. Burial will be in the Cushing Cemetery of Cushing. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service Tuesday at the church. The Nicklas D Jensen Funeral Home of Correctionville is in charge of the arrangements.

Emma Jean Lundt was born July 26, 1923, in the Battle Creek Hospital to Edward O. Else and Emma (Johannsen) Else. She was baptized on Aug. 19, 1923, and confirmed March 21, 1937, in the Grant Township Lutheran Church. She attended school at Grant No. 9 Country School. As a young woman, she worked in restaurants in Cushing and Correctionville, the Battle Creek grocery store and bakery and in the Wolff Department Store in Ida Grove.

Emma Jean was married to Virgil Lundt on June 25, 1947, at Grant Township Lutheran Church. To this union two children were born, Bruce and Marc.

She enjoyed playing cards, bingo and going to the casino. In her younger years she used to enjoy bowling as well. Emma Jean also enjoyed crocheting tablecloths for many people. She loved dancing to polka music.

She is survived by her sons, Bruce and wife, Renee and Marc and wife, Lana; and grandchildren, Graham, Emily, Matthew, Samuel, Marshall and Kayla.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Virgil in 1993; her parents; sister and brother-in-law, Louise and Herman Neubauer; sister and brother-in-law, LuVerne and Albert Schneider; and niece, Rhonda Evans.
