SIOUX CITY -- Mary Jean Dunning, 82, of Sioux City passed away Friday, May 6, 2011, at Casa de Paz Nursing Home.

Graveside services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday in Calvary Cemetery, with the Rev. Michael Erpelding officiating. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. Monday, with family present 6 to 8 p.m. and a vigil service at 6:30 p.m., at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel. Mary was born Feb. 26, 1929, in Sioux City, to Henry and Ethel (Hillary) Hildebrand. She graduated from Central High School.

She was married to Elmer A. Dunning on April 9, 1950, in Elk Point, S.D. He preceded her in death on March 15, 1981, in Sioux City. She worked for years as a bookkeeper for Foulk Brothers.

Mary enjoyed sewing and cross-stitch work and she loved her cats. She was a member of St. Boniface Catholic Church.

She is survived by her daughter, Kate Dunning of Sioux City; and a close friend (adoptive daughter), Michele Kuhlmann and fiance, Tim Sachtjen of Sioux City.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and a brother, Henry "Hank" Hildebrand.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to the Humane Society of Siouxland.
