SIOUX CITY -- Catherine Anna Ruchensky, 99, of Sioux City died Thursday, May 5, 2011, at Countryside Retirement Center in Sioux City.

Services will be 11 a.m. Monday at Morningside Chapel, Christy-Smith Funeral Home, with the Rev. Merrill G. Muller officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 9 a.m. until service time Monday at the funeral home. Condolences may be sent online to www.christysmith.com.

Catherine was born June 29, 1911, in Sioux City, the daughter of Anthony and Catherine (Shwitkas) Bilunos, the second of four children. She attended school in Sioux City and later graduated from Sioux City Academy of Beauty Culture.

Catherine's first marriage was to John, who passed away. She then married Stanley Ruchensky on April 10, 1937, at St. Casimir Catholic Church in Sioux City. They made their home in Sioux City until his death on Aug. 23, 1995. Catherine owned a beauty shop with her sister, Sophie.

She was a past member of St. Casimir Catholic Church.

Survivors include two sons, Robert and Barbara Ruchensky of Farmington, N.M., and William Ruchensky of Sioux City; five grandchildren, Debbie and Larry Lewandowski of Roselle, Ill., Dawn and Josh Vaslow of Arlington Heights, Ill., Tom Ruchensky of Albuquerque, N.M., Rhonda and Daniel Ashcraft of Albuquerque, and Michael and Lucille Ruchensky of Chandler, Ariz.; seven great-grandchildren, Derek Lewandowski, Sam and Adeline Caslow, Eric and Jared Ruchensky, and Chris and Ryan Ashcraft; two great-great-grandchildren, Landon and Ryder Ashcraft; and a sister, Sophie Suknot of Sioux City.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Anthony and Catherine Bilunos; a sister, Tessie Wagner; a brother, Tony Bilunos; her husbands, John and Stanley; and a daughter-in-law, Myrne Ruchensky.
