SIOUX CITY -- Wayne O. Milbrodt, 78, of Sioux City passed away Saturday, April 30, 2011, at a local hospital.

Memorial services will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Meyer Brothers Morningside Chapel, with Deacon Patricia Roberts officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation, with the body present will be 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m. and a prayer service at 7 p.m., at the funeral home. Wayne, the son of John and Alma (Miller) Milbrodt, was born Nov. 10, 1932, in Adaville, Iowa. He received his education at the Akron, Iowa, schools, graduating from Akron High School.

He married Lila Hobbs on July 1, 1951, in Akron. They had four children, Michael, Debra, Jeffery and Lisa. Wayne later married Marilyn J. Rys on Nov. 29, 1975, in Sioux City. He had been a Sioux City resident since moving from Akron in 1951. He worked for Roberts Dairy for 45 years and worked nights at Sodrac Park for 32 years. After his retirement, he worked for Casino Omaha and Ameristar Casino as a blackjack dealer.

Wayne was a devoted Yankees fan. He also was a fan of the Iowa Hawkeyes. He played catcher for the Red Cap team in Akron. He enjoyed spending time with his family and especially his grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife, Marilyn J. Milbrodt of Sioux City; a son, Jeffery Milbrodt of Indianapolis, Ind.; two daughters, Debra K. Phillips and Lisa Lee Milbrodt-Shelton, both of Indianapolis; a stepdaughter, Lisa M. Rys-Jones of Council Bluffs, Iowa; 14 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Deloris Milbrodt of Akron; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Michael; two brothers, Don and Glen; a sister, Arlene; and three grandchildren, Jessica, Charles and Robert.

The Milbrodt family wishes to thank Mercy Medical Center eighth floor urology and surgery and the ICU for their excellent care.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be sent to the Dorothy Pecaut Nature Center.
