SIOUX CITY -- Robert J. "Bob" Topf, 69, of Sioux City passed away Tuesday, Feb. 8, 2011, at his residence.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church. Concelebrants will be his brother, the Rev. Thomas Topf, the Rev. Merlin Schrad and the Rev. Monsignor Roger Augustine. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery, Salix, Iowa. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. Friday, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m. and a vigil service at 7 p.m., at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel. Bob was born March 18, 1941, in Sioux City, the son of Omer and Florence (Deegan) Topf. He graduated from St. Joseph Catholic High School in Salix in 1959.

He married Lorna Knopf on Aug. 19, 1967, in Sioux City. They lived in Salix for 24 years, then moved to Sioux City in 1991. Bob worked at North American Manufacturing/Schaeff Inc. for 30 years as a machinist. He then was employed with Design Homes for 10 years as a carpenter.

He was a member of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church. He enjoyed gardening, attending Woodbury and Plymouth County fairs, and attending his children's sporting events. He was very handy with tools and enjoyed doing home improvements, painting and helping neighbors and friends with their projects.

Survivors include his wife, Lorna of Sioux City; seven daughters, Julie Spies and her husband, Dave of St. Peters, Mo., Barbara Topf of Sergeant Bluff, Janice Topf of Holstein, Iowa, Teresa Topf of West Des Moines, Karen Topf of Sioux City, Sarah Wilcox and her husband, Ross of Sioux City, and Amy Topf of Sioux City; five brothers, Omer "Francis" Topf of Ossian, Iowa, William Topf and his wife, Frances of Orange, Calif., Philip Topf and his wife, Dorothy of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, the Rev. Thomas Topf of Sioux City, and Mark Topf and his wife, Betty of Dubuque, Iowa; a sister, Marilyn Jonas and her husband, David of Mansfield, Texas; and two grandchildren, Laura and Colin Spies.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and a sister-in-law, Agnes Topf.

Pallbearers will be William Jochum, Ross Wilcox, David Spies, Dan Taylor, Gerald Baustian, and James Baustian.
