SIOUX CITY -- Lloyd M. Braun, 84, of Sioux City died Friday, Jan. 14, 2011, at a local hospital.

Memorial services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at Whitfield United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Sylvia Kennedy officiating. Visitation with the family will be one hour prior to the service Tuesday at the church. Arrangements are under the direction of Waterbury Funeral Service in Sergeant Bluff. Lloyd was born Sept. 25, 1926, in Sioux City, the son of Chris and Lucille (Weidert) Braun. Lloyd attended school in Sioux City and enlisted in the U.S. Navy during World War II, serving from 1943 to 1946.

Lloyd was united in marriage to Verle Blackburn on Oct. 31, 1952, in Worthington, Minn. Verle passed away on Dec. 22, 2004. Lloyd worked at Armour and Company until they closed, then with Curry Floor and Tile until an injury. Lloyd then started to sell used cars, which he continued to do at Tri-State Used Cars until the time of his death. He loved his work and all the people he came into contact with throughout the years.

Lloyd was a kind and generous man who was always a caregiver to others. He loved and was always there for his children and grandchildren. Lloyd also enjoyed having coffee with all his many friends.

Lloyd will be greatly missed by his daughters, Cindy and her husband, John Piester, Tina and her husband, Dan Herfel and Tammie and her husband, Duane Cory; his grandchildren, Jennifer Piester, Stacey (Adam) Roupe, Sara Braun, Mandy Cory, Annie (Matt) Stachowitz and Adam Cory; his great-grandchildren, Austan Roupe, Skylar Roupe, Serenity Braun and Drayden Braun; an old buddy, Earl (Red) Deits.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; daughter, Sandra; son, Todd; two sisters; and three brothers.

The family would like to express their thanks to all the nurses and doctors who provided him their loving care.
