SIOUX CITY -- Harold Wayne Strunk, 84, of Sioux City died Thursday, Jan. 13, 2011, at Bickford Cottage.

Services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at Wesley United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Nea Huggins officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the church. Arrangements are under the direction of Larkin Chapel, Christy-Smith Funeral Home. Online condolences may be sent to www.christysmith.com.

Harold was born Dec. 21, 1926, in Sioux City, the son of Gaylord and Margaret (Southworth) Strunk. He attended Washington Grade School and graduated from Leeds High School in 1944. Harold entered the U.S. Navy after high school and was honorably discharged in July of 1946. He continued his education and received his bachelor's degree from Morningside College.

Harold married Orma Townley on Aug. 21, 1949. Together they made their home in Sioux City. Harold worked for Armours in the billing department and for more than 25 years, he worked for I.P.S. as a purchasing agent, retiring in 1988.

Harold was an active member of Wesley United Methodist Church for over 50 years, singing in the choir until just a few years ago. He was an avid golfer and also enjoyed bowling and doing jigsaw and crossword puzzles.

Survivors include his wife, Orma Strunk of Sioux City; two daughters, JoDeene and Craig Swartzbaugh of Pleasant Hill, Iowa, and Janis and Steve Hall of Bondurant, Iowa; one son, Keith and Jane Strunk of Charlestown, Ind.; six grandsons; four granddaughters; one stepgrandson; one stepgranddaughter; and 13 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Elizabeth "Lavina" Eslick; and a brother, Archie Strunk.

Memorials may be directed to the Wesley United Methodist Church Choir.
