CORRECTIONVILLE, Iowa -- Douglas Anderson, 51, of Correctionville passed away Wednesday, Jan. 26, 2011, in Kansas City, Mo., following a brief illness.

Services will be 2 p.m. Saturday at First United Methodist Church in Cushing, Iowa. The Rev. Len Garrison is the officiant. Burial will be in Cushing Cemetery. Visitation will be 4 to 7 p.m. today, with the prayer service at 6 p.m., at Armstrong Funeral Home in Anthon, Iowa.

On May 18, 1959, Douglas Delmer Anderson was born to Delmer and Kay (Lillie) Anderson in Ida Grove, Iowa. He graduated from Eastwood High School with the class of 1977. He attended college at Morningside College in Sioux City, then Westmar University in Le Mars, Iowa, before going to Rapid City, S.D., to continue his education. He moved back to Correctionville and worked for Anderson Construction for several years. He also worked with Mathers Construction and Brown Construction of Anthon.

Doug loved animals. He had a passion for the outdoors, particularly hunting and fishing. He was a big football fan with Notre Dame as his team. He truly enjoyed being with his family and loved being with his nieces and nephews. Doug was known for his big heart.

Survivors keeping Doug close to their hearts include his mother, Kay Anderson of Branson, Mo.; a brother and his wife, Jeff and Sandy Anderson and their family of Cameron, Mo.; and two sisters and their husbands, Kim and Dan Green of Correctionville, and Jennifer and Brad Goettsch and family of Holstein, Iowa.

He was preceded in death by his father; and grandparents.
