SIOUX CITY -- James Carroll Rohrer, 74, of Sioux City died Tuesday, Jan. 25, 2011, in Enid, Okla. following a lengthy battle against cancer.

Memorial services will be 11 a.m. Saturday at the Salvation Army in Sioux City.

James was born July 24, 1936, in Goldwin, N.D., the son of Edith Pauline (Trautman) and Albert Rohrer. He grew up in North Dakota, where he attended school. He worked in the mines in Lead, S.D. He then owned and operated several restaurants including in Minneapolis and Billings, Mont. He also was a mechanic. While living in Sioux City, he worked for the Salvation Army Thrift Store.

He enjoyed motorcycles, fishing and working on cars.

He is survived by daughters, Brenda and Johnny Stone of Enid, Okla., and Carol Rohrer and her significant other, Bill of Dallas, Texas; his significant other, Florence Tapley of Sioux City; eight grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Judy and Ron Buchholz of Jameston, N.D., and Jan and Bob Johnson of Las Vegas, Nev.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Jerry Rohrer; and three daughters, Renda Rohrer, Roxanne Rohrer and Pam Rohrer.

The family would like to thank Hospice.
