SERGEANT BLUFF -- William F. "Bill" Shultz, 69, of Sergeant Bluff passed away Tuesday, Jan. 25, 2011, at a local hospital.

Memorial services will be 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Salix, Iowa. Visitation will be one hour prior to service time Saturday at the church. Arrangements are under the direction of Waterbury Funeral Service in Sergeant Bluff.

Bill was born Nov. 7, 1941, to Carl and Lillian (Mardeson) Shultz, in Anita, Iowa. He graduated from Anita High School in 1960, and moved to Sergeant Bluff following graduation.

Bill married Donna Peterson on June 24, 1962. He later married Darlene Lilly on April 10, 1982, in Elk Point, S.D. Bill was employed with C.W. Suter for more than 20 years, retiring in 2000.

He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Salix, and was also a member of the Carpenters Union for many years. Bill was an avid outdoorsman. He loved to hunt, fish, golf and garden. He also loved sports and playing cards.

Bill leaves behind his children, Robert Shultz and his wife, Deb of Sergeant Bluff, and Tracy Knapp of Sergeant Bluff; stepchildren, Tom Lilly and his wife, Carrie of Seattle, Wash., Sarah Walters and her husband, Karel of Sioux City, and Caroline Tompkins and her husband, Bill of Sergeant Bluff; grandchildren, Jamie, Jacob and Zachary Shultz, Jason and Jesse Knapp, Emmelena and Alana Walters, Korie, Kylie and Brennen Tompkins, and Sophia and Genevieve Lilly.

Bill was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Darlene; and a son-in-law, Michael Knapp.
