John W. Herbold, 90, of Sioux City, formerly of Cushing, Iowa, died Thursday, April 6, 1995, at Casa De Paz Nursing Home.

Services will be 1:30 p.m. Saturday at the Baker Funeral Home in Correctionville, Iowa, with the Rev. Curtis Benson of St Paul Lutheran Church of Holstein officiating. Burial will be in the Fairfield Cemetery, rural Correctionville (Rock Branch). Visitation will be 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. today, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m., at the funeral home.

Mr. Herbold was born July 16, 1904, at Rock Branch, the son of Carl and Wilhemina (Claussen) Herbold. One March 17, 1926, she married Viola Kroeger. He later married Jennie Tott. In 1960 he married Helen Mallert. He farmed in the Pierson, Kingsley and Cushing areas and retired in 1964. He moved to Sioux City where he worked for Sioux Bee Honey and the Sioux City Airport Security System.
Mr. Herbold was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran Church.

Survivors include a daughter, Phyllis Clausen of Holstein; a son and his wife, Donald and Wanda Herbold of Olathe, Kan.: six grandchildren: 12 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Helen; a sister, Anna; seven brothers, Otto, Charles. Edward, Harry, Oscar, Henry and Raymond, and a son, Johnny Ray.
