CORRECTIONVILLE, Iowa -- Ileta Maxine Earnest, 78, of Holstein, Iowa, formerly of Correctionville, died Tuesday, Feb. 19, 2002, at Sioux Valley Memorial Hospital in Cherokee, Iowa.

Services were held Thursday at Barker Funeral Home in Correctionville. The Rev. Clif Cockburn officiated. Burial was in Liston Township Cemetery in Danbury, Iowa.

Mrs. Earnest was born June 5, 1923, in Harlan, Iowa, the daughter of Harry and Mable (White) Chase. She was a lifelong resident of the Correctionville area. She married Ivan Earnest on Feb. 28, 1943, in Correctionville. They farmed in the area until retiring in 1969. She entered Good Samaritan Center in 1986.

Survivors include a son and his wife, Gary and Terrie of Claremore Okla.; two daughters and their husbands, Mary and Gary Hunwardsen of Kingsley, Iowa, and Lynda Jacobson and Marlin Sturgeon of Sioux City; 11 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; three sisters, Alice Pratt of Kingsley, Hazel and her husband, Doug Bollin of Kingsley, and Vera and her husband, Mark Sands of Sioux City; and a brother and his wife, Harry and Dee Chase Jr. of Yuma, Ariz.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a daughter, Sandra Kay; a brother, Wesley Chase; and a sister, Martha Chase.
