MOVILLE, Iowa -- William R. "Bill" Corbin, 80, of Moville died Friday, Jan. 18, 2002, at a Sioux City hospital following a lengthy illness.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Moville United Methodist Church with the Rev. Harold E. Werley officiating. Burial will be in Arlington Township Cemetery, Moville. Visitation will be 3 to 8 p.m. today, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m., at Christy-Smith McCulloch Chapel in Moville.

Mr. Corbin was born Dec. 5, 1921, in Moville, the son of A.W. and Lina (Rayburn) Corbin. He graduated from Moville High School in 1941. He enlisted in the U.S. Army in December 1943, and was a member of the 27th Division of the 105th Regiment. He was honorably discharged on Feb. 22, 1946. He married June Arlene Manker in Moville on June 16, 1946.

He was a lifelong resident of the Moville area and lifelong farmer. The family farmed south of Moville until 1977, when they moved to the Corbin family farm near Moville. He was a member of Moville United Methodist Church, and the Meadows Golf Course in Moville. He enjoyed golfing, cards, woodworking, fishing and time with his family.

He is survived by his wife; a son and his wife, Dennis and Cathy Corbin of Naperville, Ill.; two daughters and their husbands, Judy and Dave Meister of Remsen, Iowa, and Debbie and Dale Rich of Tulsa, Okla.; six grandchildren, Jennifer Corbin, Aaron Corbin, Tobias Meister, T.J. Meister, Davilyn Rich and Chad "Buck" Rich; two sisters-in-law, Carol Corbin of Kingsley, and Dorothy Corbin of Carroll, Iowa; two brothers-in-law and their wives, Gaylen and Joan Manker of Moville, and Larry and Sally Manker of Sioux City; and two great-grandchildren, Jack Corbin and Sarah Corbin.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Vicki Lynn Corbin; two sisters, Alice Campbell and Jean Thorp; and two brothers, Charles Corbin and Dick Corbin.

Pallbearers will be Aaron Corbin, Tobias Meister, T.J. Meister, Chad "Buck" Rich, Craig Manker and Roger Corbin.

Memorials may be directed to the family in his name.
